Sony’s PlayStation app: “Meh,” we can wait

iOS gamers, you may have heard some rumblings about Sony working on a PlayStation application. This week, the company made it official — it announced the PlayStation apps for iOS and Android. Sounds great, except here’s the “meh” part — it’s not an exciting port of its hugely popular game engines or titles. (Apparently something like that is still in the works.) No, this is more about social networking, reading news and sharing existing Sony Playstation game scores and other info, like:
- Check out PlayStation Network trophies and get status updates on friends’ games.
- Discover the newest games, news and hardware for PlayStation 2, 3, and PSP.
- Checkout the latest news/info on the European PlayStation.Blog.
- Share fav products and news items via Facebook, Twitter and e-mail.
- The free PlayStation app will be available soon
The company will be releasing its free PlayStation app in UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands first, with more countries to follow afterward.
Take your time, Sony. We can wait. But do let us know when that PS phone or mobile game port is done, k?
